  1. At least he didn't go out via overdose or drug-related heart attack like seemingly all the others do.

That said, I'm in shock right now. One of my all-time favorites...

Somebody please tell me this is just the most un-fuckin-believably stupid work I've ever heard. I mean, how does it go from 'family emergency' to 'Benoit and family found dead'? That's a bit of a jump in my mind. The first one is 'dad had an emergency appendectomy'. The second is... I don't even know.

If it's true, RIP Chris Benoit and family.

And I hate to be the one to ask it, but it must be asked -- what does this do to the McMahon angle? Please tell me the WWE comes to its senses, brings VKM back, admits it was a work and never does another death angle? And the three hour RAW becomes a tribue to Benoit instead of McMahon.

    Possibilities:

    * Stalker/threats against family force Benoit home, ambushes the family
    * Wife (who oh by the way is Woman, the former valet) threatens divorce, one of them kills the other and the kid and then turns the gun on themselves
    * Kid dies, wife is frantic, Benoit comes home, wife kills herself, then Benoit kills himself
    * Wife and kid are held hostage, Benoit comes home, all are killed

The thing is surreal to the point that the whole thing really DOES seem like an angle so tasteless that it makes the Mr. McMahon angle looks like Doink and his stupid fucking midget clowns.

    From PWTorch:
WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and his son Daniel were found dead today in their Atlanta home.

WWE.com reported the story moments ago on their website. Benoit, 40, missed a Saturday night house show and last night's pay-per-view in order to return home to Atlanta.

PWTorch.com can confirm through sources that Benoit's death is real and not part of a worked WWE storyline.

WWE has announced plans to scrap tonight's scheduled "Vince McMahon memorial" storyline on WWE Raw, and will address Benoit's death on the program.

No further details are available at this time.

    From 24wrestling.com:
As noted earlier, former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Benoit's son Daniel was also found dead.

Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoit's family, friends, and fans at this time.

WWE just told its talent and released on its web site that Chris Benoit was found dead by Atlanta police.

All plans for Raw tonight have been scrapped and they will do a show on the life of Benoit. As always we will be providing live play by play coverage of RAW as it happens tonight starting at 8PM EST.

    From the Corpus Christi Caller-Times:
CORPUS CHRISTI — World Wrestling Entertainment canceled Monday night's live show from the American Bank Center after wrestler Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home.

According to the WWE web site "There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities."

Benoit, originally from Edmonton, had a home in the Atlanta area, where he had wrestled in the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling before joining the WWE.

I am done as a pro wrestling fan. This numbs me to the bone.

RIP to Chris Benoit, his wife and son and, according to Meltzer's brief item, I weep for Chris, who Meltzer said has other children who live in Canada.

This news should make me want to watch Wrestlemania XX to see him win the title and the hug with Eddie Guerrero and the following PPV in which they do all the build up for the WM XX rematch in his hometown as well as the Benoit DVD, but I just can't right now. I just can't.

They didn't cancel when Eddy died. They didn't cancel it when Owen or Sheri died, for that matter.

From WWE.com: Tonight’s Raw on USA Network (8/7 CT) will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.

Bet it will include footage from all of the things I mentioned above and maybe some testimonial type stuff done today.

I'm guessing it's just due to timing... I guess the talent didn't find out until a couple hours ago. With Owen and Eddy, there was a little more time for the shock to wear off.

Not to diminish either tragic death, though.
