I sure hope it ain't the last. That match at WM20 was a great match in its own right.

I followed Benoit since his emergence in WCW in the mid 90's. An absolute pro and gentlemen. I was lucky enough to have some mutual friends with him and never heard a bad word about him. I saw him once at a wrestling training camp, he was supposed to be focusing on his own rehab at the time from a neck injury, but he was going out of his way to show a bunch of wrestlers the tools of the trade.

He will go down as the greatest technical wrestler of his generation and an absolute first class individual. Whatever tragic events led to his death, nothing can take away the enjoyment he gave his fans through his sheer artistry and ability in the ring.

We lost one of the greats.

WWE is airing a Benoit-Malenko match from WCW. In Benoit's corner? Nancy "Woman" Benoit. Absolutely haunting.

The AP story that just moved on the wire said it's being investigated as a homicide. Doubt they'd be doing that if it was a suspected gas leak. Unless, I guess, they think the gas leak was done purposefully.

I heard they are investigating it as a homicide with no shooting involved. Take that for what it's worth.

Another match they should dig up is the Benoit-Bret Hart match done in tribute to Owen Hart.

    From the Torch:

Vince McMahon broke the news to the wrestlers backstage about the death of Chris Benoit and his family.

One wrestler who was present tells PWTorch that everyone was gathered for an urgent, impromptu gathering backstage. McMahon then explained the basics - that Chris Benoit and his wife and won were found dead. He didn't elaborate or provide any details, and may not have known any more himself. "I've never seen a locker room floored like that. Seventy percent of everyone was just floored like I've never seen before. Everyone is just sad. He was well-liked by everyone. No one ever had a bad word for him. He and Bobby Eaton, that's what people say about those two. He never complained about sh--."
