Not that I believed the fans' votes actually counted, but I was SHOCKED that Dusty Rhodes wasn't teamed with Flair. Considering all the history those two had in the NWA -- much more so, and in higher-profile matches than the history between Flair and Piper -- I thought that pairing was a natural.

Maybe he'll get his shot now with Piper on the shelf.

That being said, Piper is my all-time favorite wrestler. Always has been. That guy was the quintessential heel back in his glory days in the WWF leading into WrestleMania. Unmatched on the mic and more than passable in the ring, he could get fans going like no other. I'm looking forward to checking out his new DVD set once it comes out.

  5. I think they actually did count at that one. The office also wanted that Flair-Dusty team. Plus, consider how hard they pushed Cena's belt to be the one defended and it was Booker's instead.

Could Hogan perhaps fill in for Piper?

Nah, he's too busy meeting the neighbors and going on cruises and stuff. :p

Plus they wouldn't waste a Hogan return without a shitload of buildup. Plus Hogan wouldn't want to be part of a "legends" team; he'd want the spotlight to himself for a match against Steve Austin or The Big Show (the rumored match for Wrestlemania 23, if Big Show can make it to that point). They'd probably just drop Duggan into that spot.

Ugh. Duggan was horrible 20 years ago.

I think Dusty makes sense as the replacement.

Dusty's already in the match. Right now it's Flair/Dusty/Slaughter/old guy TBA (Arn Anderson in the corner) vs. Spirit Squad (Mitch in the corner, everyone else wrestling).

    My vote: Kamala

Aha. I misunderstood. That being said, Kamala would be a good choice. He's actually wrestling in my neck of the woods here this week, I believe, against King Kong Bundy.

Damn, I don't have access to pay-per-view right now. I'm gonna miss "Genesis" live. The match I've waited a few years to see is happening (Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle) and I have to wait a few extra hours to see it! Real great!
I just hope Vince "The OverBooker" Russo doesn't screw it up.
