If Cena is hurt, this just speeds up the HHH-Orton program.

    Yep.

    From WrestlingObserver.com:

    by Dave Meltzer

John Cena suffered what was believed to have been an injured pec in tonight's match with Mr. Kennedy on the hip toss spot that opened their main event match on Raw tonight in Cleveland. You could see Cena talking to the ref seconds after the move. He worked the match essentially with one arm, doing his comeback punches with his left hand instead of his usual right.

He's expected to see Dr. James Andrews tomorrow for a diagnosis. At this point it was feared he had suffered a torn pec, which would be the same injury that has kept Edge out of action for the past several months. A complete evaluation was expected sometime Tuesday.

Cena said on the WWE web site he would wrestle on Sunday no matter what.

I'm in the minority on this, probably because the more hardcore fans don't like Cena very much, but I don't mind that he's had the title for so long. Thinking back to what Russo and Bischoff did to the WCW title in its final years, when they'd switch it every week (and occasionally give to to an Arquette), it really devalued it. And you see this in TNA to a degree as well. By virtue of Cena holding the belt for so long (he's held it since late April 3, 2005, with the exception of a 21-day Edge run in Jan. 2006 and three months where it bounced to RVD and Edge last summer), it makes his inevitable defeat mean a lot more.

Put another way -- who would you rather dominate the belt in the last two and a half years, Cena or HHH?

Oh, I'm with you on this. I like the belt having value as opposed to seeing who won it each week on WCW. I just thought maybe they would have Cena (one of my favorites) lose soon to switch it up. Sucks it had to happen like this, though.

I'm not a big fan of Cena. In fact, I really don't like him. But you never wish for a guy to get injured, even one I don't like.

I hope he's okay. That injury sounds pretty serious.

I hated it when this happened to Taker, hated it when it happened to Edge and Batista, and now to Cena. But I'm ready for a new champ on Raw. And his name is Randy Orton. Hopefully.

WWE.com says it's a completely torn pec and that Cena is out 6-8 months. Ouch. Title has been vacated, new main event TBD for No Mercy.

Hard to believe I witnessed the longest title reign in 20 years end and I didn't even know it at the time.

    Dear Chris Jericho,
Please hurry up and get back into wrestling shape.

    Sincerely,
The few WWE fans left on here...

One of the things I always liked about the old NWA was when there was a title change, damn, it meant something.

Now this begs the question ...

If he is returning on 7OCT, does he get the title shot against Orton (or however they decide it) and "SAVE US" by winning the title?

For once, WWE would have a perfect escape out of a bad situation.

This week's Mystery Phrase was "SAVIOR_SELF". Which means apparently Stabbing Westward is reuniting.

This may be a rare time when an injury is the best thing that could happen. Cena takes a well-deserved break, giving the fans time to not hate him. Jericho comes in as the man to save WWE, even more so now that their top star is gone for a while. Assumably he wins the title, has a nice feud with Orton (which eventually segues into an Orton-HHH feud), feuds with Kennedy, turns and faces a returning Cena.

Which means the SAVE_US guy is Test.

I like the way you think ... pretty much what I had going through my mind.
