The second part might well be true, but McMahon's announcement doesn't really change anything. Since the injury just happened, they probably don't have a plan yet, and they almost certainly didn't intend to make Jericho the champion at No Mercy if he's even debuting there, or if he's even the guy debuting.

Another theory I heard today -- take the numbers 8-2-11, since that string showed up in last night's promo.

The eighth letter in the alphabet: H
The second letter in the alphabet: B
The 11th letter in the alphabet: K

But he's not ready yet and there's a chance, according to Bryan Alvarez, that he won't even come back because he's pretty happy with life right now. Which would suck, because say what you will about him, he's still a good worker and a good interview.

  2. Got to disagree with you on Orton. He can't wrestle and can't talk.

He can talk in the right circumstances and has done a fairly good job getting himself over as a megaheel despite not having the big-time promo skills of an HHH or Edge and kicking people, as though he's 2007's Thunderfoot. A lot of good subtle tics, particularly in facial expressions. \

Now face Orton, that was just brutal.

Yeah; Orton has that smirk that makes you want to hate him.

So far in 2007, though, his talent has been limited. He needs more depth to his character.

Be kinda cool -- at least for us old geezers -- to have as his manager, Cowboy Bob, complete with the cast on his arm. But then Vince would probably drag Roddy Piper back out and a one-armed Paul Orndorff and all of the good memories woould be trashed by a bunch of old men running around in their underwear with bitties.

I'd love it if HBK had one last run as champ, but I doubt it'll happen. His body is pretty damn banged up.

I think all signs point to Orton becoming Champ.

  7. Too bad for Cena. Whether you liked him or disliked him, he basically carried that company for a full year and you had to respect him as a hard worker.

They almost have to give the belt to Jericho to keep fan interest. Nothing else would get over right now except Triple H, but as mentioned earlier that pop needs to be saved for later.

Obviously suspensions and injuries have hurt, but I don’t like much of anything the WWE is doing. TNA is more entertaining week to week, despite its talent deficiencies and penchant for whizzing through angles.

Cena's definitely going to be missed.

And No Mercy could be the worst PPV of the year, which is saying alot considering the abysmal quality of WWE PPV's the past 6 months or so. Hopefully Jericho shows up to add some excitement. I certainly think he'll be at either NM or Raw, especially considering Raw's declining ratings this week.

  9. Wow. This blows for the Federation if they don't find a way to surprise the shit out of most people and put the belt on a returning Jericho. After all, what legit title-holders are there? Triple H and Orton are the only established main-event guys. Elevate somebody? Hardy? Kennedy? Move somebody from SmackDown? Undertaker?

Unless they drop the guaren-damn-teed lame Triple H-Umaga match and put Hunter against Orton, it has to be Jericho. There are limited solutions with so many top guys hurt or still suspended.

Anybody thinking they are going to give the belt to Jericho on Sunday is kidding themselves. The guy hasn't wrestled in two years, and he still apparently has a book tour scheduled for most days of the week except Mondays. No way they're going to put the belt on a part-timer who only shows up for TV. Even though they never have world championships change hands at house shows, they're incredibly anal about having a champion who works every event.

One rumor I saw was having Kennedy, the guy who "injured" Cena and Lashley before that, against Orton for the title, with the strap going to Orton. Would seem weird having two heels in the main event, though.

True. But no way would Kennedy! ... Kennedy! be regarded as the heel. Fans in Chicago (of all places considering his "hometown") would be solidly behind Kennedy! ... Kennedy!
