  1. I ordered the PPV tonight on a gut feeling it would be worth it and it has certainly been one of WWE's best PPVs this year. I know the comp for that is slim, but for a "B" show, it is very good. Even the Kane/CM Punk vs. Henry/V match was somewhat decent.

Wade Keller made a good point in his PPV real-time commentary. It made sense for Jeff to go over to face Orton at the Royal Rumble, since they really don't need Jeff to sell that PPV ... the Rumble match does that.

True. And the main events at the past couple of Rumbles have been pretty damn bad on paper: Angle vs. Mark Henry in '06 and John Cena vs. Umaga in '07. (although Cena/Umaga put on a surprisingly good match)

JBL just screwed Jericho out of his title match.

  4. Meltzer predicted that kind of finish earlier today. JBL and Jericho had a bit of a scuffle during the Tribute to the Troops show, so that continued here. I guess JBL is well enough to wrestle in a carefully scripted match? The verbal sparring should be entertaining.

I wonder how they are going to work the feud, with JBL being the voice of SmackDown and Jericho being a Raw superstar. I'm guessing they'll have a match at the Rumble. The mic work is going to be terrific and although they have both been out of the ring for awhile, I think they'll put on a decent match seeing that they are both vets, former World Champs with something to prove.

  6. I can see something where they each try to one up each on their respective shows. JBL visits RAW, Jericho visits Smackdown, which can certainly use the ratings boost.

Just read that morale at TNA is getting lower by the day. Makes you wonder how much longer Dixie Carter's going to keep letting Vince Russo firing holes into what is a sinking ship.

They need a complete overhaul over there, as in firing the entire writing crew and bringing in people who can't rest on their 1990s-era laurels. I'd like to think there is someone who has the potential to save that company. Someone needs to take a chance on a writer who can rise up and bring TNA to the next level. Going to a Bischoff or Heyman is a short-term solution, but it's sounding like the two-minute warning is arriving at TNA.

As of now, I'd say it's 60-40 they survive 2008 at this current pace.

    Don't give Russo any ideas.

JBL-Jericho match? Yeah, that's ratings gold. NOT.

  10. It might not be ratings gold, the promos will be fun to watch/hear.

I have also heard the rumors that many of TNA's wrestlers, including Ron Killings and The Dudleyz, are wanting to head to WWE.

    Who can blame them?

And Edge won last night with the help of two imposters, who were apparently The Major Brothers. The Majors will now be teamed with Edge in a SD faction.

Had a thought over the weekend and wasn't sure whether to lump it in here or start its own thread. Let me know if y'all think it needs to be moved...When Chris Benoit turned into a psychopathic murdering bastard, everyone in the national media was quick to jump on the steroids bandwagon and link it to every wrestler who died in the last 30 years.
So, on Thursday the Mitchell Report confirms what everyone suspected -- that baseball's steroid culture is at least as ingrained as that of pro wrestling, maybe more. So how come there aren't large numbers of baseball players dropping dead? If they follow the same angles they did on the post-Benoit stories, baseball players should be dropping like flies, right? Since they're not, will anybody call BS on the national media for this?
