Given that a) most of their top talent from last year is injured, retired, out of WWE, on Raw or dead, and given that one of their top remaining wrestlers is stuck in a retarded feud with Chavo Guerrero, and given the existence of MVP, they could be doing a lot worse. Raw, to its credit, has been more watchable the last two weeks, particularly with the RKO-DX angle going more serious and Cena-Umaga doing a good job building their little feud.

Cryme Tyme and their brutally bad skits can eat me. If WWE had balls (non-Mahoney), they'd do with Cryme Tyme what ECW and Smoky Mountain Wrestling did with the Gangstas. Problem is, they're already getting grief for having them at all, making them militant and violent racists won't help, but at least they'd be entertaining.

ECW tonight sounds good on paper (they taped last night), but I guess execution may be another matter. Heyman apparently quits on TV in a taped segment backstage from the PPV. This could all be an elaborate work, though none of the Dirtsheet Trinity feel that way.

  2. Just got my tickets in the mail to ROH in Dayton on Feb. 23. Front row, baby.

I'm going to enjoy watching my dad, a longtime fan, bang on the metal guardrail. Heh...

Am I the only one who thinks a Cena/Umaga feud is a bad angle? I know DX is in a feud with Rated RKO, but damn, someone else has to be up for a title shot.

Wait, no they're not. The four people I can think of are involved in a feud right now (Trips, HBK, Edge, Orton).

At least Umaga has been protected fairly well and made to look like a monster. It could be worse. It could be Hulk Hogan vs. steriodal pre-cig mafia victim Dino Bravo or Hogan vs. Zeus or Ultimate Warrior vs. what was left of Andre the Giant. Hell, everyone was scratching their heads about Eddy Guerrero feuding with JBL, much less giving him the belt, and it turned out to be one of the better things they've done. So as long as Cena-Umaga isn't a six-month feud, I got no beef with it.

I'm glad they gave EG and Benoit the titles that year. Seeing those two in the ring at WrestleMania was a special night.

I'm just not sold on Jamal being a title contender right now. I mean, he hasn't had any real competition since joining the RAW ranks and he only has one or two good moves (sound familiar? Hmm....I'm thinking that's what Cena used to be like...).

  6. WWF has done this before--pushing a mid-major guy as a world title contender. I think Hogan and Kamala had a months-long feud back in the day, if memory serves.

And, since Cena's obviously their attempt at a new, kid-friendly Hogan-type, they're repeating the formula.

Umaga's actually a lot better now than his 3MW days, and he does have that unbeaten streak going for him--now six months-plus and counting...

The whole undefeated thing is overrated now that Goldberg did it (169-0) and Samoa Joe in TNA. I'm pretty sure someone else has had a long undefeated run, but the whole thing is stupid.

  8. Big Show done with WWE... or at least taking significant time off.

Does this mean ECW will be subjected to a Lashley vs Test feud for the title? Ugh.

The WWE folks came here to the hospital where I work earlier this week, and were very well-received.
Several of them including Cena, The Undertaker, Mr. Vince and some random female grapplers were visiting patients and servicemembers.
They were expected Tuesday but got delayed by plane problems in the Carolinas.
They finally made it here and it was a quick 2-hour visit.
Next stop: Somewhere in Iraq or Afghanistan

Meltzer had this in his report today ...

WWE will be having tryouts on 12/13 at the OC Dojo in San Clemente, CA. They are looking for huge, charismatic guys and "ultra" hot women. So if you know someone who can be the next Daniel Rodimer and Kelly Kelly and can get the fast track to wrestling stardom, they're looking for them. For more info you can go to info@upw.com
