That probably means Cena's either wrestling Orton or a heel HBK at Wrestlemania. I can't imagine they'd do Cena-Edge again, Umaga isn't a long-term feud and there isn't anything else that can get the proper build between now and then.

I'm going to RAW tomorrow. Never been to any wrestling event, so I'm excited.

Oh man, does this bring back the memories.

I never missed a house show when I was in high school back in the mid-late 80s. WWF, AWA, NWA, whatever. Went to all of them and had a blast. Had a buddy that worked at TicketMaster and he'd hook us up with front-row seats to everything. We'd go early and try to see the guys coming into the arena, and get autographs and pictures with them.

Met Ric Flair this way (nice guy), Lex Luger (nice guy, back when he was the shiznit), Michael P.S. Hayes (cool), Dusty Rhodes (prick) and even Abdullah the Butcher. He started screaming at me when I asked him for an autograph and even took a couple of fake steps at me getting out of his car. Needless to say, being about 150 pounds, I ran like hell.

Sitting in the front row was awesome. We'd harass all the wrestlers, especially the bad guys to try to get them to come over and pretend like they were going to kick the shit out of us. It was hilarious -- a group of 15, 16 year olds swearing like sailors at guys that outweighed us by like 200 pounds in some cases. One time Hercules actually got legit pissed and tried to get security to kick us out (they didn't); another time Dr. Death Steve Williams hocked this huge loogie into the air that landed right on my buddy's leg. Gross.

Coolest thing was when we got front-row seats at a WWF PPV back in 1988 (believe it or not Curt Hennig wrestled his first match after jumping from the AWA against Terry Taylor, who had jumped from the NWA and was debuting as the infamous Red Rooster). The Rougeau Brothers were tag-team champs and doing that lame angle where they'd carry around little American flags and wave them, trying to piss off the fans. We brought our own flags, waved them all during the match and they actually kept putting us on TV during the match (bought the tape months later). Anyway, the Rougeaus beat the Killer Bs by cheating, rolled out of the ring and right over to us kids, who were waving our flags crazily while getting high-fives from the bad guys. Made our night.

    Heady days, indeed.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on. Just thought I'd share some cherished childhood memories with some fellow 'rasslin fans.

  4. If that is indeed the case with Trips, he's got to be done as a wrestler. It's one to come back from that type of injury once, which apparently nobody has, but to do it again at his age, high doubtful. If it is what they think it is, as mentioned before, that will be the end of DX for a while. Thank God.

  5. Apparently certain young guys in the Raw locker room were almost throwing a party at news of Triple H's injury. It will be very interesting to see if this gives them an excuse to finally start elevating some of the young talent--Kenny Dykstra, Shelton, Carlito and Nitro immediately come to mind.

Bill Watts' ex wife is selling the old Mid-South/UWF original TV broadcasts on DVD. Buddy of mine sent me one for my birthday from 1982. It was bizarre to see JYD, Kamala and Tony Atlas looking mobile and being able to hit good moves. Also was my first chance to see matches with Mr. Wrestling II. That guy was damn smooth in the ring.

I've become the wrestling-fan equivalent of a music lover who only listens to classic rock and underground unsigned bands. WWE and TNA would be the stuff you'd hear on the radio right now, and it sucks. WWE isn't allowed to wrestle and TNA booking is on crack.

My guess is Jeff Hardy and Carlito are the most likely to get immediate pushes with Trips down.

Though, knowing the WWE, it will be Chris Masters (who strangely beat Carlito last night).

Also, with Triple H out, maybe Jericho comes back?

We all know Mr. Stephanie McMahon gets way too much airtime and too many overhyped feuds/pushes.

However, Trips in moderation ... very good IMHO. Good on the mic, shows good intensity. I still remember when he returned from the first quad injury ... that was one f'n loud pop at MSG. Then it became Trips 24/7/365.

Isn't it the same quad he injured the first time around? Or was that his left leg?

  10. Been flipping back and forth between the game and RAW. How'd you like to have shelled out major coin for a ticket to Raw in St. Louis to see... Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump imitators "wrestle"?

Wow. They're handing TNA an opportunity but TNA already screwed the pooch with horrible booking.

At least McMahon got to hear the loud-as-fuck TNA chant in the middle of that mess. Not that it'll change anything.

We were thinking they'd use midgets.
