Professional wrestling thread

  1. The Rated RKO thing I have no idea about, but second thing with Lillian Garcia is when they do a live shot of RAW on USA near the end of Law and Order previewing what's on tap for the night.

Yes, I believe that is the same quad he injured the first time around.

That explains it then. I never watch RAW on Mondays -- I TIVO it and watch it later, so I never see that part.

Except having him lose clean to Hardcore Holly means they don't believe it.

Logical way to have Khali debut on Raw this week: open the show with the Cena interview, have Estrada interrupt and talk about how Umaga is the uncrowned champion and he's giving him the night off, but that he made a trade with someone for a few cases of Cubanos and rum or something, and now he wants Cena to meet the newest member of Estrada's family/stable, at which point Khali enters.

Instead, they have him show up on Raw because "his contract expired", yet here he is on ECW wrestling Tommy Dreamer the next night.

Internal consistency is not the hallmark of WWE productions.

Well, they wanted to finish the feud between Dreamer and Khali/Daivari, and Khali squashing Dreamer put an end to that mess.

Fair enough, though all they ever did was have Khali squash Dreamer, so this didn't feel like much of an exclaimation mark. They barely addressed his going to Raw, and you'd think at least Daivari would have something to say about it. Logically they would have had Dreamer win by some fluke and then have Daivari fire Khali or something, but if you're setting up for a Hogan-Khali match at Wrestlemania (apparently Big Show may not be healthy enough for that spot), you can't have him go out a sucker in ECW.

Yeah, I could not believe they did that last night.

Eliminated first in the elimination chamber.
    Loses clean to Spark Plug.
And it seems his feud with Mike Knox and the angle with Kelly Kelly was completely blown off, even though it was the only feud on ECW that actually developed into something promising.

Who did he piss off? What did he do? Or are the powers-that-be paranoid he was getting too much love from the fans too soon?

  8. Hogan-Khali at Wrestlemania? I'll puke. Say what you want abouit Hogan, but I still love him. It's a childhood thing, I guess. Back when I didn't know any better, I used to get extremely nervous watching Hogan matches with his title on the line. Then I would pump my arm like Tiger Woods when he came away with the win. When he lost, I was the most devastated 9-10-11 year old there was. Those were the days.

Anyway, hearing about the possibility og Hogan-Khali just makes me sick. I mean do people want to see that. I know it's going to be the 20th anniversay of Hogan vs. Andre, but there is no way WWE can recapture even a fraction of what that match was all about back then. This will go down as one of the worst matches in professional wrestling. Hogan is falling apart and we know he's not a technical wrestler, just a power moves guy. All Khali does is kick, head chop, a couple of elbows and that shitty power bomb. I've been as frustrated with the WWE product for some time now and was giving them till Wrestlemania to straighten things out. I know that's the time when you have your best TV, but so far we've seen shit. And it seems like the Royal Rumble has become an afterthought, no?

Well, the Royal Rumble is going to be good. It always is b/c of the unpredictability factor. I'm always intrigued by every Rumble I watch. I think if the Rumble isn't a good PPV, it'll be a bad Wrestlemania.

  10. I recorded ECW last night and haven't seen the tape, but after reading this why should I? WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY shit on CM Punk? I just don't understand it. He gets his first loss to Hardcore Holly? WTF? I think we're all right when we said they didn't like that reaction he got at Survivor Series. He is one of the few people I actually like to watch wrestle (Benoit, Finlay, London, Kendrick (sp), RVD, Regal being the others) and he brings so much to the table. And you know they are holding him back in the ring. I've never seen him in a ROH match, but from what I hear, he was awesome there. WWE needs to go in a new direction fast because if the ratings keep falling and people continue to ignore the minor PPV, they are going to see more dropped advertising, less people at house shows, etc and they are going to start really losing money. And TNA ain't doing a damn thing about taking advantage of this.

  11. I got last year's Rumble and it was bad. The rumble match came on in the middle of the show, there was just a minute or so between the wrestlers and it was actually boring for the first time ever. Long long gaps with no eliminations and lots of blah punchy-kicky type action. And the main event was Mark Henry vs. Kurt Angle. MARK HENRY!!!

I don't see any way this year's Rumble show can be good, or any way that WrestleMania will be even decent. I remember back when they used to start building the WrestleMania card around Survivor Series at the latest. Now here we are 3 months out and there's not one definitive "story" you can see culminating at the big show. That was a problem even before Triple H got hurt.

Plus, they've spent the past year on Raw devaluing everyone else on the roster besides Edge, Orton and Cena, so good luck elevating anyone because nobody will buy it. Smackdown's cycled through the same set of matchups over and over... nothing new there except Batista vs. Taker, and are they REALLY gonna end Taker's WrestleMania streak against Batista (who's a tremendous asshole by the way).

    And ECW's a mess.

Bottom line is you look at all the talented, competent veterans who have left for TNA, quit in general or gotten injured, and you've got a lot of green younger talents who all look and wrestle the same, stiff big guys who get pushes but can't do anything and can't win over the crowd, and maybe 3 or 4 quality guys who are worthy of their opportunities.

  12. The whole thing is a mess.
