    Also very happy the paper failed in its attempts to eliminate that designer’s job last summer.

    As Charles Pierce pointed out, no winners among the stories covering the most volatile presidential race of our lifetimes. I suspect coverage of Jan. 6 and the aftermath will dominate the 2022 awards however.

    I'm not familiar with the Editorial Cartooning finalists, but what goes into the decision to not award a Pulitzer in that category?

    Any prestigious award today must be carefully viewed through the filters of appreciation and skepticism, for the reasons noted above. Such as when the Star-Ledger hired an outside journo to do nothing for a year but write about a fishing boat tragedy that few read and fewer cared about, but won the paper a Pulitzer for reporting.
