That's what my paper does. I'm not a fan at all. Bylines should not imply that person is working at another paper than they are. Wire service, sure... make it clear they're in the chain, sure... implying they work for that paper just because they are in the chain isn't cool.

paperdoll - you have no other option other than to get over it. corporate couldn't give two shits about what 'line workers' such as us believe when it comes to their bottom line. really, get over it and you'll have one less reason to be pissed off.

"People don't want suggestions for improvement. They want to complain, but they don't want anyone to suggest a solution. It's an attitude that mystifies me; I have yet to figure it out and I'm not sure I want to."

"corporate couldn't give two shits about what 'line workers' such as us believe when it comes to their bottom line."

I think that covers why many feel it's pointless to try to change things. Line workers over time, unless there's a union or guild involved, are not going to be listened to much. Many who complain do suggest solutions, or want to. How those suggestions are handled by those who receive them is worth considering. Some may take it as a criticism of themselves or how they do their jobs, and that can get you in trouble, and to much of the business's bitterness.

Take a look at any thread, and few people work for people who welcome input and will act on it. The opposite is what leads to complaining, much of which is legitimate.

I can't remember once seeing you make a suggestion, Dye ol' pal. Why not start a thread and throw some stuff out there and see what people say? Afraid of criticism, which you so happily dole out?

    Gee, what a great idea!

Except I already did it. Thanks for playing, Sherlock.

Which one? I missed it, I guess. Don't spend as much time on here as you.

I'm sure with your inquisitive skills that you'll have no trouble tracking it down.

You're probably right, but I'm really not that interested in what you have to say.

here's a solution: No. 1 and most importantly, grow up. No. 2, getting pist about something as trivial as this is what coerces management at all levels to view you as whiny. No. 3, if you want people to take you seriously and make changes because you bring something to their attention, find something of substance to pick a fight about.

    Another thread DyeJacked. Surprise.

My experience with Gannett News Service, back in the day, was that papers picking upo my stuff were usually real good about running the byline. Every couple of months, I'd get a little packet with clips from around the Evil Empire. Many of them are in a box someplace, which in my case doesn't narrow it down a lot.
