Day one went OK. Had no craving for smokes or alcohol. And believe it or not, there were seven Bud Light's in the fridge and a half a pack of smokes near the chair all night.

I instead decided to clean my apartment a little bit (it needed it) and that was after I went grocery shopping (which I needed to do big time as well).

Only drawback, I didn't sleep worth a crap last night and I'm overly tired today.

But Day 2 is trudging along as slow as can be.

sleeping becomes the most wonderful part of being smoke-free ... at least it was for me.

Unfortunately, I've had some smokes tonight. And a fair amount of shots because my friend was depressed.

This doesn't make me an enabler, but it damn sure makes me an accomplice.

God, I need a new scene!

No. Tom would just roll another joint and get to the point. And then head on down the road.

And then he'd crawl into Los Angeles, with dirty hands and worn out knees.

    (I could go all night).

    Back on pace.
I spent a good chunk of the night in the hospital. I have to say, after hearing a 37-year-old woman with ashtma having to be put on a respirator because she decided to chain smoke a pack of cigs, my quitting got that much easier.

Wow. Maybe I should make frequent hospital visits. Actually, hospitals depress me, and depression causes me to smoke.

I've overcome my little setback. There were a few rough days. Today has been just fine, and it's been a somewhat stressful afternoon.

My wife just called to tell me that her job was being eliminated at the high school because the district is short on cash, or so she was told. She doesn't have tenure, and she'll never get it at this rate. She's going into her fourth year of teaching, and she'll be at her third school.

Proud to announce that every cig in my home as has been torn up and tossed in said trash receptacle.

God, I really don't need this shit in my life. It's the one thing my mother couldn't beat in her short life and it's the one thing I'm bound and determined not to let beat me.

Now other vices are a different story. ::)
