In another couple of weeks I probably could. If only I had the $2000 they'd charge and the time to enjoy it.

Great to hear, Tommy. You can do it. Just remember that it's all downhill once you get past the first few weeks. There will still be some obstacles, but you can maneuver around them.

I had one cigarette on Friday. I requested it from the guy who towed my car away from the accident scene. I felt pretty guilty, but I managed to make it this far without having another. Given the stress level these last few days, that's pretty good. And I'm not quite as grumpy at this point. I mean, I'm still grumpy. But it's more from being stressed and without sleep than from lack of nicotine. So that has to be a good thing.

Tommy, try exercise to chase away cravings and get a big sack of gum or hard candy.

  10. Don't ask. I was struggling mightily with a couple of key paragraphs in a project I'm doing. Saw a co-worker heading outside and I followed him so I could bum one. Four minutes later I was back in my chair spinning out the best couple of paragraphs I've written in a while ... that was late last week ... I've been seeking moments of clarity quite consistently since then ...

Yesterday was eight weeks. Haven't had one since 4 a.m. on January 30 and the desire to have one fades with each passing day. Was in a bar tonight for two hours drinking and eating wings with people smoking all around me and was absolutely disgusted by the smoke. Still not out of the woods. My goal is to not smoke Wednesday.

I tried to smoke Wednesday, but Uncle Fester jumped out of the shadows and took the bullet.
