I can't believe I'm putting this out there for others (who might hold me accountable) to read. My 12 year old niece said something to her mother about my smoking this weekend. And I have to admit, that for the first time in over 25 years, I am seriously considering quitting. I really feel that I might be mentally closer to making that decision than I have ever been. It's a very scary thought for me.

I'm so bad. I started smoking again. I've been telling myself I need to quit...again, but this thread acted as another reminder. I suppose I'll set my goal for next week. I've started working out again, which makes me want to smoke less. I just don't want to do too much change in one week or I'll blow it all.

You will be in mourning for a fair bit, grieving a shitty friend who made false promises.

This thread is a dirty reminder about how I haven't tried since October.

Shit, I need to try again.

The timing of this thread coming back up is creepy.
My wife and I are giving it another try. We've had this date (today) circled since our Lenten try didn't work out (we had quit for three months last year before starting again).
As my buddy says, me and smokes is like a soap opera. I'm ready to change the channel.

My problem is after months of not smoking, I get the bright idea that I can handle smoking, but only when I drink. Smoking when I drink after not smoking is always so good for some reason. The problem is, I always end up back into full-time smoking again.

Gola is right, this thread is a dirty reminder. I've been avoiding even clicking on it, because I've been disappointed in myself for picking them back up this spring.

My father has been smoke free for about three weeks now. I on the other hand am still the "casual" smoker and I definitely smoke much more at the bar than at the house. I'm hoping my dad's strength rubs off on me sometime soon.

No fucking fun drinking without smoking, and none smoking without drinking.

    Day one down, here.
No one's been stabbed yet, so that's a good thing.
