Wow. Had no idea he was the last surviving member of the original Mary Tyler Moore show cast.

And a TV actor to the last. Holding off on his obituary until the end of the September sweeps.

    RIP, Famouser Amos.

I don't know. Lisa Gerritson (Bess Lindstrom, Phyllis' daughter) probably got as much screen time as Gordie the Weatherman.

I know we all laughed at the funeral, but Chuckles the Clown was with us until 2014.

Joyce Bulifant, who played Murray’s wife, is 86.

Bess Lindstrom sucked. Gordie was fantastic.

That tweet should read 'core cast'.

Bess and Murray's wife weren't the core.

On rewatching, after Rhoda left for her spinoff, the show took on water. Georgette as Mary's best friend was a horrendous downgrade. The show suffered because of it.

For the record, Gordy was in 14 episodes, Bess in ten. Your mileage may vary on core cast.

I started binging "Royal Pains" the other night. Amos was in a couple episodes playing a grandfather.

Up until "Coming America", the most exposure he got after "Roots" was probably ...

This passing has more legs than I expected.

John Amos wasn't typecast as a "Black" actor even in spite of Roots and Good Times, which is positive today but exponential in the 1970s.

He even played a recurring character on Two and Half Men, so his standards weren't always very high.
