Drinking to excess? Pray your kids don't get assigned to read The Great Gatsby.

Killing people? Keep them away from Shakespeare. All of it.

Treating women badly? Hope Hemingway doesn't pop up on any reading lists.

Did you not like what all these men were saying, because of their subject matter?

Clubber, thank you for posting the Bay Area tribute. I can't even put that track into words.

    Zeke,

I wish that my daughter would take the words of those writers to heart. She wont because they are not "pop culture"

I don't care that she listens to that music, when she does, she also listens to Sinatra, who was known to slap a few people around. I figure if mom and I do our jobs, what she sees on MTV (or CMT for that matter), wont make a difference.

But as the father of a teenage daughter, when I hear the boys at school, at the game, or in my house, singing about how to handle "bitches", I worry.

Their parents may not have done their jobs.

And you gotta believe me when I say color doesn't matter. It's the message, not the messenger.

I just worry about the message.

    Nah CR,

I have said all I am gonna say. I can't win here. It's not a competition. I respect Zeke and Passy and the other board members who disagree with me. It's OK to disagree with me. My wife and daughter certainly do it often enough ;D They are as entitled to their opinions as I am to mine. I don't want to change their minds as I don't believe they need to be changed. I only wanted to have my say.

    And I have.

    Here's how I read it:

Like has already been discussed, Hemingway wasn't a Saint and Shakespeare's work isn't the most uplifting. Apparently for you, songs like "Hit Em Up" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" outweigh those such as "Dear Mama" and "Changes." But that's not how I and many who have posted on this thread remember Pac. I don't think you're being racist, but it came out wrong. Or I read it wrong.

CR, no offense, I like me some Pac.

But there WERE far more "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted"s than there were "Dear Mama"s.

Hey, Dirk said his piece, we'll let it go at that.

Only another hour or so until I get home and fire up that ipod.

Anyone else have anything I should download? Anything off the stuff that's been realeased since he died? I didn't follow any of that closely...

I wrote this song a long time ago, a real long time ago, back in '94.

    :D

    My suggestions:
The Bay tribute "Tha Song Continues On" that Clubber posted the link for on page four of this thread.

Good party song not really discussed on this thread: "All About U."
Great track off Better Dayz Disc 2: "Better Dayz" feat. Mr. Biggs.
I'd also download "Play Your Cards" by Tupac & Jodeci if you like "How Do U Want It?"

Newer stuff isn't nearly as good, but you asked for some. My three favorites from Loyal to the Game album:
    "Ghetto Gospel"
    "The Uppercut"
    "Thugs Get Lonely Too"
