When Sajak retired, Vanna or someone else should have presented him with a ceramic Dalamation statue.

One summer in the suite without A/C on campus, I worked a food service job, took the rest of my PE requirement and got a PITA class out of the way. When I got done with helping to close the store, most of the closing managers had zero problems with us taking home food that they would otherwise have to toss.

So I'd bring back something, occasionally enough to feed the 3-4 of us in the back pair of rooms in the suite when it was available (that might have done more to help feed poor, hungry college kids than whatever pittance I made in actual money). One my suitemates loved to tune in to "Love Connection" late at night, when the place was almost tolerable because the heat had finally subsided enough to avoid boiling while trying to sleep atop our sheets with the fans trying to keep us somewhat cool.

Anyway, that suitemate lived for the meltdowns and insult dates, when one or both would start hurling barbs or just outright cutdowns. One time, a guy started shedding a tear. My suitemate probably woke up half the Triangle laughing so hard at that guy.

Another sign, of course, was Woolery breaking the fourth wall and directly at the camera with the "here we go" expression. If they had put them on stage at the same time - as opposed to one with Chuck and the other in front of a camera in an adjoining room – we might have had confrontations that would have made Jerry Springer look like the copycat.

Couple of years ago I was driving around on Sunday afternoon and came across one of those time-filler talk shows you only hear on the weekend. It was "Gun Talk" or something like that, and the host had Chuck Woolery on as a guest. They spent about 30 minutes just talking about guns and Second Amendment issues, and not one word about game shows. It was interesting. Woolery knew his stuff.
