    My mother was in the DAR, and she did genealogy on the family way back. She was directly descended from Col. William Prescott, who commanded at Breed's Hill and is quoted as saying "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes". That is disputed, there are a couple of candidates as to who actually said it, but he's commonly given the credit.
