The thread was fun for people because they were making fun of you boots. Jesus. You should be happy they finally locked that ridiculous thread. Now, don't get this one locked, too.

I totally disagree. While there was some good natured kidding, and I can take it as well as dish it, there were clowns who got on there with the purpose of getting the thread locked.
I know big brother has role in what is going on here. I don't like like death and taxes, there's nothing I can do.

I didn't lock it but I'm not passing the buck. JD got there first, youth has its advantages. I agree with the decision.
Explaining my reasons for wanting it locked would violate very strict rules about outing and the like so you'll just have to trust my reasons. Or not. I could give a shit.
I assure you JD has good reasons as well, which he can share at his discretion.

Bottom line, I wil repeat what I've said MANY times: We make a lot of decisions. Most right, a few wrong. Live with it if you want. Or don't. It's a big ol' Web out there.

Some of you would be surprised by the number of people who wish I'd lock this thread. I guess in part it's a generational thing, but based on PMs and personal conversations with a lot of people I know from years in sports journalism, there are many people who find the board devolving into an unflattering version of itself.

All I know is I take a few cues from Webby and Moddy about the tone they'd like to preserve on the board -- including, yes, fun and venting -- and decide when it's time to lock something largely when I sense it's becoming nothing more than another excuse for a pissing match.

Sadly, some of the people who complain about being pissed on do much of the pissing. Between the attention whores (on EVERY thread, ALL the time) and those looking to pick or prolong a fight, this board is often a train wreck.

Moddy and I talked about the thread, and we both decided it had probably run its course. I locked it just as he was asking me my opinion. Bad decision? I might think so in the morning, but after last night and a long weekend of not needing any further bullshit, I considered that lock a long-overdue pre-emptive strike, if there is such a thing.

Do not think so in the morning. It was not a bad decision!

    They win?
Wife and I watched 7th Heaven, first time I've seen that show in ages.
Who the fuck are those people?
The dude living in the house? T-bone?
The two hot girls living in the house? T-bone's hos?
Where's Ruthie? Where's Simon? How did Happy outlive all of them?

I had a lot of fun on the boots thread, but it was time.

    Good move.
