Random Thoughts the Third

When I was younger and naive about the ways of radio (and other media), I always assumed the final song played in the "24 hour Christmas music marathon" had significance ... along with the first song played as the station returned to its "normal" format.

Now, even though stations play Christmas music nonstop for nearly two months ahead of the holiday, they still end the marathon at midnight on Christmas night, as the computer program playing about 40 mostly-irritating songs on an endless cycle clicks off and the computer program with about 100 overplayed light-rock songs clicks on.

Still ... for the record, as I was driving home last night from work:

"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" -- Andy Williams

then

"Lights" -- Journey

Not a bad segue for a computer DJ at a soulless, corporate radio station.
