Lord Chesterfield's Advice to His Son, On Men and Manners.
Conduct book for young men, something of a genre at the time, on how to gain a competitive edge over their peers.

When I travel to a new town I like to listen to the police scanner a little bit.
The police radio I had as a young boy picked up the phone calls of neighbors who lived on the even-numbered side of the street.
Heard a lot of weird shit, drug deals and such.
Gay dude calling escort services and using the codename "Buster".

There are two worlds to Hong Kong, members and moderators.
The main streets, and behind the facades, into the back-alley laneways.
There you are stepping into the shadows that are real China, but triad-run China.

Oohh...Hong Kong. My quick weekend getaway place. Probably going again next weekend.

The Flying Pan is a great place for breakfast and the Thai place kind of down the street from there is awesome.

And the Pacific Place movie theater is a great place to catch a film. They're months behind, but still a lot sooner than I get here, if I get anything here at all.

Macau is an easy ferry ride away, too.

Got called out for one of those Facebook "Beer Challenges".
    Went to get beer.
Wife says no since I have to work in an hour.
Who the fuck hasn't had one beer before work in their life?
Maybe a nun? But...do they ever actually have an off day?

There's a wonderful moment that takes place about 20 minutes after you've chased 2 Excedrin with a Red Bull, when you realize the headache that was about to make your morning miserable has gone away.

It's gray and moist in Bennington but things are looking up now.

@wjchat: Q4 Let's talk about the technical aspects. How do journalists who aren't coders gain the respect of coders? #wjchat

Because if you don't have the respect of coders, who will you get respect from?
