The only time I thought about clothing in an airport was when I saw people wearing overcoats and bulky jackets in Honolulu. I thought, where do these people think they are? But then I realized that I didn't know where they were going, maybe Buffalo.

 

Tahoe, probably. It's a 15-minute flight, but it gets cold there.

Flight attendants are nicer and might not charge you for a drink if you are a little dressed up, in my experience.

 

What drinks? I haven't seen any liquor or beer on a flight in years.

 

They do that anyway when you’re as good looking as I am.

 

If someone in your life decides to start "collecting" something, burn them at the stake.
I'm not talking about a one off item like a baseball autographed by your favorite player. I'm talking about 30 of a similar item sitting on a shelf.
If it doesn't serve a functional purpose, some day, someone is going to have to get rid of all that crap.

For as great as Rickey Henderson was, it's remarkable to me that he wasn't named to an All-Star team for the last 12 years of his career (1992-2003) and didn't receive any MVP consideration at all after winning the award in 1990.

 

Continuing my journey down the rabbit hole of Baseball-Reference.com, can someone explain to me how Frank Viola's WAR in 1990 could be so much higher than Ramon Martinez's? Same number of wins, double the number of losses, a better ERA by .25, 15 more innings, five fewer complete games, 50 fewer strikeouts, a higher WHIP. It's instances like this that make me look at WAR with a gimlet eye.
