True story: When I was in college, I served Potato Oles to both of these mascots:

Not at the same time, and not in costume.

Still, the night several drunken Wisconsin marching band members and cheer squad personnel came into our downtown Iowa City store was the highlight of my Taco John's career, by far.

MLB's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline must have been created by East Coast newspaper executives. The same thing can be said about east Europe Olympics. There's no way someone doesn't die 10 minutes before deadline tomorrow.

Also: The word "boycott" originated when British land agent Charles Cunningham Boycott was ostracized by his Irish community for unfair practices. The Boycott boycott was subject of a 1947 film, Captain Boycott. Charles Cunningham Boycott is subject of a 4,500-word Wikipedia entry.

All of our fingers have names -- thumb, pinky, index, ring and middle -- but only two toes -- big and pinky.

So, what do we call the other three toes?

  11. When I was growing up quicksand was constantly used as a plot device. On any show you could have an episode where someone fell into quicksand. Whatever happened to quicksand?

Did global warming get rid of quicksand? Yeah global warming!!
