Sucks that you're not even allowed to make an innocent mistake occasionally.

Everything is an automatic ticket. Expensive, too. "License and registration, please."

To play Devil's Advocate: "It sucks that you make an innocent mistake occasionally...and you kill a kid that is getting off the school bus."

I've got a kid getting on a school bus every day.

There needs to be some discretion. There's a difference between passing a stopped school bus and getting caught in between as the lights come on.

"A kid is going to get killed!" self-righteousness is what leads to bad rules and bad enforcement.

In this case, though, she did it and the fine is reasonable.

The assumption, often correct, is drivers make many mistakes without getting caught.

A perfect driving record might be worth a warning citation, though.

So there's a camera on every bus and it recorded her doing this? Or the bus driver took down the plate?

A cop showing up at your home?

Bus driver presumably took the plate or had an attendant who did it. They have that power.

Cop shows up to confirm the identity of the driver, then apparently the ticket probably comes in the mail.

I totally overreacted at first and thought she was facing like four-digit fines and license suspension.

I had this happen to me as a junior in high school. The bus was stopped with lights on on the far end of a parking lot (8 car lots or so, small lot) and I pulled in behind the bus to park. The driver got out and said he could have me written up for a ticket since I technically failed to stop. Not sure if he was right, or if he was just yelling at a 16-year old kid for fun, but I have been much more aware of buses ever since.

It's weird imagining Ian Curtis singing "Bizarre Love Triangle."

And just so we all get it right:

    It's pronounced: SOW-na...not saw-NA

    Thank you,
