    Bullpen pitchers should take Segways to the mound. Imagine Rich Garces in his plus-sized glory in the late 1990s riding a Segway out from right field at Fenway. Jesse Orosco, Paul Assenmacher and Rick Honeycutt could've extended their loogy careers by another five years if they didn't have to walk to the mound. Or at least bring back the novelty golf carts from the 1970s.

    One of my favorite things in life is that moment where you come to appreciate something you already love in a new way. "Purple Rain" has been one of my 10 favorite songs since I first heard it a decade ago, but I don't think I ever realized how wonderful the cello playing is until I put it on full blast in my car today on my drive to work. It's so perfect and so small and so swirling.
