What, they couldn't give the mother one line in the commercial showing how daddy's little girl became Army soldier?

Had my first celeb encounter as an LA resident today, waiting in line at the bank down the street from my place I met Danny Trejo.

Very cool dude, he was telling me stories about when they were making Heat. Said Michael Mann is a really cool guy.

    Best exchange was this though:
Him: "Okay, since you're such a huge fan of Heat, do you remember the first name of my character."
Me: "I know the name De Niro called you was Trejo."
Him: "Yeah, my first name in the film was Gilbert. Not many people know that, now you have a story to tell."

Good thing this videographer didn't have a Rott. Or something.

New Belgium Brewing Company opened up in Florida today.

FINALLY I can get to try a Fat Tire Ale.

One of many reasons to love summer: fresh, locally-grown fruit everywhere you look.

Loaded up on U-pick blueberries on Friday, and have been eating them plain and in various dessert items (thanks, Mrs. Coco!) ever since. Delicious!

New Belgium has many better choices, though I suppose Fat Tire is the people's choice because it's simple and smooth.

Ranger may be the most agreeable IPA around.

I didn't realize it was a regional thing since I've been able to get it everywhere I have lived...until this past move.
I guess because I've had it is why I don't miss it. Although their bock is pretty good.
I guess it's the same with Yuengling.

Life in an art gallery part 28348129. The FB update a few minutes ago:

    Some days life is funny.

The other day I posted here (https://www.facebook.com/joeykulkin/posts/10151749743939371) about the Bennington photographer whose popular work is featured at Fiddlehead at Four Corners. I've written about her.

Well, she came into the gallery last week, moping really, that no one is attending her show at the Bennington Museum because none of the local media outlets will preview it.

So I emailed the local paper's editor explaining the situation -- she replied that she had not received anything from the photog and so I see what's really going on here -- but anyway 3 days later the paper's entertainment editor runs a nice big preview of the show (http://www.benningtonbanner.com/artsweekend/ci_23741491/profoundly-disturbing?source=rss).

Today an envelope arrived with this hand-printed photo of a llama the photographer's hand-written note on back saying Thank You Thank You Thank You! and so on and so on. Also in the envelope was this $20 certificate to Papa Pete's, which serves pizza-sized pancakes.

    Life is funny some days.

New Belgium has a really good offering of crafts. But none that I would consider a must have. However, Avery in Boulder has White Rascal, which is simply fantastic.
