Damn, I almost forgot to buy black-eyed peas this year. I've been out of the South far too long.

Black-eyes, cornbread, greens and a tamal. Got my hangover-fightin' lunch menu for tomorrow.

  2. No etouffee?
    Shame on you.

Well, I'm a Texan, and while we enjoy a nice etouffee, it's not thought of as being a New Year's food. At least that's how it is for us North Texans. Perhaps it's different in southeast Texas. Cajun country's kind of like Kurdistan; it straddles existing political borders.

  4. That's an awful lot of geopolitics just 'cause the Piggly Wiggly was out of crawfish.

They're on the stove now. And they smell wonderful. Greens will be placed beside them in a couple of hours. Cornbread coming later.

I had some phenomenal cornbread yesterday.

No Piggly Wigglies in these parts. Nor crawfish. And yesterday I came to the outrageous realization that there are no greens to be had around here, either. I bought spinach instead and slipped on the ice while walking home from the store. I will be very glad when I get off of this godforsaken subarctic steppe. Sometimes I love the Great Plains, but not this week.

Hey writing irish, in regards to your busdriver post I just wanted to point out you are no longer a newbie, but a jr. member.

Well dang, you are correct, Angola.

Hope the busdriver post didn't seem snarky. My sense of humor runs to the dada/surrealist side and I find busdriver's posts funny sometimes, even though they might not be humorous on purpose.

I didn't think it was snarky. You are correct in your observation of her posts, they are quite hilarious in an unintentional comedic way. Just thank AlleyAllen for introducing her to the board.
