My latest attempt to give up caffeine has ended for the same reason my other attempts did. Freaking headaches. I even tried weaning myself off this time, but when I gave caffeine up completely I got horrendous headaches. Grrrrrr.

Hey Chica de Deportes, after a week you'll be fine. Get through the headaches with Motrin or something. Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Got some headaches, but after a week they're gone.

Not to be a downer, but the oldest real-life coda kitty here isn't doing too good. He's got early renal failure, and today, they found a mass in front of his abdomen. Keep the good thoughts; it'd take the wife a long time to get over losing her baby.

    Good luck with that.

Mrs. TBF cried for a week when her childhood dog died -- and we've lived 300 miles away for almost six years.

I'm sorry Shotty. They can go a long time in renal failure. The old kitty I had put down last year had had it for about 6 years. Sounds like your baby has other problems though.

Sorry to hear that, shotty. I hope he's not in pain.

Can you post a pic? I love a cute kitty face...

    Kind of a different subject:

I've had nothing but Diet Coke for years. I tried regular Coke and I get this weak feeling in my left arm and a stomach ache and I get dizzy. I get the same way when I drink Hawaiian Punch or Hi-C fruit punch.

I've had this problem for years. The best way I can explain it is that it feels like I'm being poisoned. It's an awful, awful sensation. No one I've ever met can explain it. It has something to do with the fructose or the fake fruit juice. If I drink diet drinks, no problem. But regular Coke, Pepsi and I feel like I'm having a stroke. Oddly, regular Dr. Pepper goes down fine.

Oh, and I also had the same sick feeling after drinking sangria.

Grew up drinking Dr Pepper (no period) then gave it up for 15 or so years. The recent commercials saying there are 23 new flavors or something made me try one. 23 new flavors? Bullshit. It's the same ol' shit. Lying commercial.

I'm the opposite - I can't drink more than one diet soda within a day or two or my spine starts to ache. I can't describe it well, and it doesn't happen with any other food (and this isn't like "carrying couch up three flights of stairs" backache). I've always chalked it up to the artificial sweetener.

And U, maybe you should talk to a doctor about this. That doesn't sound good.

Granted, imagine never having had anything spicy in your life and then biting into a habenero pepper. If you're used to diet drinks, all the extra sugar of a regular one might send your body into shock.

I don't know what it is. It's sad because I love me some Cherry Coke and Hawaiian Punch.

I guess the lesson is that we should all be drinking more water.

Shotty, my condolences. Just give him all the love you can while you have him.
