On another note:

I got a call at 5:38 p.m. yesterday from my father. I get along great with my father, so I picked up, excited to hear from him.

He didn't sound so hot, so I asked him what's wrong.

"Your brother's in jail."

First immediate thought. It was only a matter of time. Then I quickly recovered and asked why.

Apparently he stopped along the side of the road to pick up some aluminum (which was bundled up). Great idea except for the police watching the aluminum in a sting operation ...

My brother's always doing time in the pokey for pot and shit like that.

 

Because it was slow at work and I have to catch up from the weekend

The last 4 1/2 hours have been spent at rinks covering 3 girls hockey games. First one was a clunker; local team from NH blanked team from VT. Second game was horrid, local team that is bad but getting better against a club team that was terrible. Left after the 1st period. They were appetizers for the main dish: the 2 best programs in VT, 5-time defending champions v. the locals. Great fucking game. 1-0 win for the 5-time defending champions. Preview to a state championship game. In the 2nd period there was a 9-minute stretch with no whistles. Fantastic.

It's going to take a few hours to thaw out. It's cold tonight in northern New England, finally. Dropping down to 10 degrees.

 

cold here in miami, too. it got down to the 50s last night!
