You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, but you are dead wrong and you know it.

  2. Let me rephrase that a bit -- I don't think it's "reactionary," but it is farther right than most other First World market democracies. So what?

They always say that imitation is the highest form of flattery but unlike the girls who have had to mace you in the past, I'd like this to stop now before you are looking in my window and watching me take showers so please go stalk someone else........

That was one hell of a run-on sentence. There's no way you write for a living.

That is the first clue, the second apparantly is that I'm not an egotistical elitist liberal snob.......

yeah, there's that and you also have to be halfway intelligent to write and spell apparently.

I offer it only as a sidebar to the thread, Lyman - in response to the idea that the US press is some sort of aberrant, far-left outlier. I think instead that the American population - and the status quo of American politics - is profoundly conservative.

    We are all pompous asses.

The AVERAGE American watches American Idol and American Dad, he/she does not read Editorial pages.

Hell the average reading level of your rags is 8th grade. They are influenced by Bobby at the Bar and Cindy at the Club, not Will, Novak or Dionne.

Get over yourselves. We are the elite but that doesn't mean we're right or that they're wrong but the AVERAGE American worries about paying bills not if the media is lefty - if they do it's because the right has impressively called media bias for the past 30 years. The left again relies on facts not hyperbole.

If you don't mind me asking Zag, who did you vote for in the last election, and who do you plan on voting for this time round?

The left relies on emotions, not facts, which is why we have situations like the San Jose Mercury News winning awards in the same year they were writing "investigative" pieces about the CIA selling crack in black neighborhoods -- pieces that turned out to be almost entirely fabricated and just another sad chapter in the liberal version of America.

And the snobbery with which you write about Americans is exactly why the media is considered to be so out of touch with reality.

"Americans are lazy! They don't care about issues, they only care about American Idol....."

Yeah, that's not taking stereotyping to another level or anything.
