I try not to give others much advice because of my relative lack of success in the world. But I am sure of this is and will pass it along. When someone makes a gratious and cruel remark it reflects far more negatively upon the person uttering the insult than the person being insulted.

I'm not affiliated with Pressbox in any way but I see the doubt in this opportunity so I'll give them a testimonial. Pressbox is a a pretty solid local media outlet in Baltimore and are credentialed to cover the Ravens. I'm not sure why their previous writer isn't there. He was a nice guy and very knowledgeable.

Pressbox typically is the top spot for many veterans freelancers in the local area. During the years when places cut most of their sports staff, many of the notable names went to Pressbox.

    Hardoooooooooo
We could compare resumes, but that's not much of a battle.
I'm just saying if you want to get an NFL job somewhere legitimate and you're struggling to break in somewhere, this job seems like a good start.
But what do I know, I'm just a caddy (who makes 70 percent of his former job's pay in about 20 percent of the time and pays zero for childcare)

If you've ever lived in Baltimore, you'd know that this isn't a "good start" to an NFL or an MLB beat.
This is at best a good opportunity for a student right out of college or a retiree who still wants to see their byline.

Everybody who wants to do this for a living cares about the pay.
You might be the only person who doesn't.

    Yes me.
And all those people who work nonstop hours with no OT and say "journalism doesn't take time off."
If you're a veteran NFL guy with a family, this job doesn't make sense.
If you're single, fresh out of college or at some small prep job, making peanuts to cover an NFL team is a good way to get yourself noticed.

No, this job isn't a job you leave a preps job for. You don't know what you're talking about.
This is a terrible job that won't send you on the road and will overwork you and pay you nothing.
Do you know anybody who was left a paying job to go to Press Box? I guarantee you don't.
