You think anyone edits Rick Reilly?

I would bet just about anything that he has it in his contract that nothing in his column is to be changed without his approval. There are columnists a lot lower on the food chain than him who have that.

Any writer who puts a no-edit clause in a contract is a fool.

I really wanted to go apeshit on this the way I did with the Rosie DiManno garbage... But I don't need to... The posts here friggin' nailed it, particularly swenk's.

Swenk hit it out' the park.

    It's none of his business.

He really needs clinical help for the grandiosity problem.

I guess Reilly thinks that it's just a coincidence that Kaepernick's Mom waited until her son was a starting NFL quarterback, on the verge of superstardom and the payouts that go along with it to try to talk to him....

Someone should ask Reilly why his daughter seemed so happy to meet her birth parent.

I think one thing that should be considered is that every distant relative and grade school buddy wants to be part of a celebrity's circle. How many aunts and uncles show up for the ceremony when a recruit signs a letter of intent? Lots of people try to grab part of the celebrity's fame.

Without disparaging the biological mother I think Reilly should understand that Kaepernick is probably very wary of all his new found friends.

Didn't the racist grandmother who disowned Shane Battier's mother surface during the Final Four?

I kind of enjoy the cynical, cut-the-check way Reilly approaches his ESPN gig. You can so often feel the disdain he has for what he's doing, even as he mails it in time and time again.

If you think he's sanctimonious, stopped trying many years ago, and is a pompous ass, isn't it fun to watch him whore himself out once a week or so? He's serving himself his own comeuppance, repeatedly, by prostrating himself at the altar of a form of media he doesn't believe in.

From what we know of Reilly now it's entirely possible that he is actually the birth father of his adoptive daughter. Reilly was in Seoul in 1988 covering the Olympics. Maybe he is the one that needs to make the call.

Bet it took a while for that self-absorbed dork to dredge up a list of the willing.
