Yes, I will do everything I can to be there for one of the shows.
If I were to miss it, it would be ..
    N-n-n-n-n-n-nooooooooooo ------ body's fault but mine

This is a must-see thing for me.

Would there be a tour rider mandating Viagra backstage?

  3. Blitz is right. Any self-respecting rock fan has to be able to say he's seen Zeppelin, even if it's in decline. FWIW, I saw them as a kid in Boston in the '70s. But if they're near, I would try to pull it off.

I had tickets to see them at the Big Owe in Montreal on the tour that was cancelled due to Bonham's death. I was 15 then, had no idea how I'd get to and from Montreal but I didn't care. It was Zeppelin for Chrissakes....

    From the article:

" Incredibly, according to NME.com, frontman Robert Plant is in talks this week with fellow Led Zep legends Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones about a one-off Zeppelin gig that'll hopefully take place in London this November."

I held my breath when I saw the headline at yahoo.com. They're not my favorite band to listen to (mostly because I've never seen them live; was five when they broke up), but I consider them the greatest band of all time. Did see Robert Plant in 1993, and the dude was still wearing jeans that looked like they would lower his sperm count. The music was solid stuff.

Anyway, I would have to see them if they toured. But honestly . . . . . . how good could they possibly be? This is a group whose guitarist almost wasted away on heroin 30 years ago. Whose sound and live vibe depends heavily on a singer who can hit the high notes and preen like "a Golden God."

Some bands are still quite good live as they age. Metallica (all the "big four" of 1980s thrash metal Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth - are still very good live), Rush, The Police were excellent. (Pink Floyd cheats and brings 18 extra musicians). The Stones, I'm not completely sure, but I do know that the recordings from the Steel Wheels tour sounded like dudes playing at half-speed, anmd that was 17 years ago. So Zeppelin may not completely suck. I would see them if this turned into a tour (and this one-off gig is likely a test run), but they obviously won't be playing the legendary shows they used to play, three hours worth of 12-15 actual Zeppelin songs and a lot of riff masturbation by Mr. Page.

If it happens, I'll be there... This was supposed to happen about 15 years ago, but there were disagreements over who would play drums. If memory serves, Page and Jones wanted Collins and Plant wouldn't do it without Jason Bonham.

The reason this hasn't happened is mostly Plant. He doesn't need the money while Page (Coverdale/Page anyone?) will do just about anything for a dollar...

Blasphemer! Zoso doesn't need money, he sold his soul to the devil for all of the money and groupies across the land. [/hammerofthegods]

I guess it ran out. Apparently, heroin and 13-year-old girls aren't cheap... ;D

What band had this classic lyric?

"If I could play guitar I'd be Jimmy Page. The girlies I like are underage..."

Just the thought of these guys stumbling through some of the greatest rock music every created is too sad. Actually watching it would be unbearable.

    Absolutely will check this out.

Yes, I would be concerned that 3 decades of aging could negatively impact the performance, but this would be a lifetime opportunity too good to miss.

And would hope they would mix in a few surprises amidst the standard hits--perhaps a 'Gallows Pole' or 'In The Light' as an example.

I'd pay $100 just to watch Page play "White Summer, Black Mountainside"
