I'd agree, except I'm not a fan of cold cheese on a hot sandwich (sammich, for some of you killjoys:p).

My wife and I have made eating at Waffle House a Christmas tradition.
We always have a big family get together for lunch on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. One year we got home, took a nap until dinner time and didn't feel like cooking when we woke up. Nothing else was open, so Waffle House it was -- and the place was packed. There's two in our town about two miles apart, and we actually had to leave the first one and go to the second.
Over time it's become our thing. The last couple of years we've even taken my father-in-law and mother-in-law there and treated them to dinner or lunch. I always leave a big tip for the poor waitress that has to work, although from seeing how busy it is that might be a coveted shift.

I've never had a bad experience at Waffle House, and it's usually my first choice for breakfast or lunch when I'm doing travel by interstates. Sometimes breakfast and lunch.

  5. Waffle Houses are Ok. They are what they are. I'll take 'em over Omelet Shops and House of of Pancakes.
My kids prefer IHOP, which I think is little on the expensive side.

    What?!?

There is an Orange Julius in our mall.

Our mall has a combo Dairy Queen and Orange Julius, and there's a standalone combo if those 2 near us, also.

In a mild sign of what journalism workplaces have devolved into, this 30-something was recently describing to a bunch of recent college grads how UNDENIABLY BADASS the old "Bigfoot" pizza was from Pizza Hut back in the mid-90s. A giant rectangle pizza that could barely fit in your fridge. Ideal for sleepovers spent playing hours of Sega Genesis...

Not to be a Debby Downer, but it sounds like you have a gluten allergy...

I used to frequent Farrell's in malls in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Had good cold cuts.

Oh, I think it was well-established that LJS caused frequent cases of Gobble 'n' Squat.

Both of my favorite pizza places -- Pepe's in New Haven and Denino's on Staten Island -- have opened a few restaurants in the tri-state area, but I haven't been impressed by the quality control in any of them.
