My coded tone? What the fuck are you talking about. And what exactly did I write?

I'm talking about Willie's personality, something that served him well in the midst of the Bronx Zoo in the 70s, that does not serve him well as a manager or a team that needs it's ass kicked every now and then. Even he has said "that's not my personality" when asked about not getting more angry at some of the shit the Mets did this year.

Doesn't matter to me is he's black, white or green. I do not think he is a good manager.

In all fairness, can any manager stop Reyes and Milledge from being showboats? That's what they are, for good or for bad. Milledge will have to figure out on his own how to act like he's been there before. I don't blame Randolph; I just think the pitching fell through the floor at the wrong time

At the risk of editorializing, Randolph is terrible, and must be dealt with in a harsh and brutal fashion. Otherwise, his behavior could incite other managers, leading to anarchy of biblical proportions.

    It's in Revelations, people!

I would tell you not to hold your breath on that Boom, but I know you are well aware of that.

Many current threads on this board are needlessly bogged down by folks who refuse to acknowledge the sun rises in the East.

Comfortably more than half (I'm being conservative, here) of BR's NYT columns are inspired/driven by a Johnny-One-Note, knee-jerk racial override.

That's a touchstone. That's simply one of the rock-solid bases of understanding modern sports-journalism realities.

You refuse to acknowledge . . . you're living in fantasyland.

    Proceed.

For the sake of argument, let's say that Bill uses race as an issue. Now, tell me where race has anything to do with Willie's present sitaution, which has been addressed?

it doesn't. But you should be asking that of Rhoden.

No I don't have to ask Bill. Race is not mentioned in his column about Willie.
You and others bring it up quite eloquently. Or should I say presume and assume that his hidden agenda is race.
Leave race out of this and again, the speculation is over. Willie's coming back next season.

As well he should -- the last two weeks of the season not withstanding.
However, Rhoden has cried wolf so many times when there was no need, that any defense in his columns of an African-American implies race. Might not be the case, true. But he's played that card so many times deliberately that he's reaping what he's sown.
