What if she'd kicked the drugs... but fell to her death while foolishly splashing around next to a waterfall in Yosemite?!?

I'm pretty sure sgd has always been sgd. You're really not helping yourself with this constant infatuation of yours.

From Wikipedia, less than two months ago she had checked into rehab:

' In an October 2010 interview Winehouse said she had been drug-free for three years, saying "I literally woke up one day and was like, 'I don’t want to do this any more.'”

Winehouse entered the Priory Clinic on 25 May 2011, where she stayed for one week.'

The lack of self-awareness is just... Stunning.

i am so utterly tired of this b.s. line of crap. it's offensive to EVERYONE who's fought like hell to beat the REAL stuff. i've known far too many who have lost that fight, or otherwise passed way before their time unwittingly in accidents, to buy into this load of crap.

if a loved one passed after a long battle with the bottle, i'll cry my eyes out and mourn for them. but i'd never dare ask anyone else to give a dump. it's a freakin' insult.

The lack of empathy by those who've never fought that fight is, by definition, expected, but it is still disappointing when it comes along with ...

    Aw, fuck it.

    Ignorance is bliss.

no doubt about it. i have little to no empathy for them, either. now, hendrix and janis were fabulous talents. i'm angry WE were robbed of the incredible music that was sure to come.

their deaths were tragic for US as fans of their music and their loved ones. but the way in which they passed, at the hands of a 'disease' or however you categorize it, not even close to a personal tragedy for me.

winehouse? i don't think we could tell yet if she was a 'remarkable' talent or a one-hit wonder. either way, while i empathize with her many loyal fans whom i'm guessing were hoping she'd give them an 'amy winehouse II,' it's absolutely no loss for me.

listen, i don't begrudge anyone who consider amy's loss 'tragic' and a great loss for the world order. just don't ask for or expect the rest of us to give a crap and agree that this as a 'tragedy.' it's the wrong word. 'infuriating,' maybe.

and, of course. this is all assuming that amy died by her own hand. if it turns out it was an accident, or natural causes, just as it seemed she had her demons under control, the perspective changes. but if she passed in the manner we all suspect amy did, i'd never think of deriding anyone who wanted to mourn and i'll hope for the same consideration for y'all.

this is one of those threads that has you on one side of the aisle or the other. no one's mind is going to be changed. you either empathize with everyone's death, no matter the cause, or you don't.
