Always bugged me that he used that kids ranch thing to cover for a lot of really terrible behavior. Perhaps having to kowtow to Sharpton on his apology tour was the greatest punishment he'd ever face.

I really don’t think that people should always be judged only by their worst moments and often times what is not acceptable in one era was ok in others. But as someone who grew up in NYC with him on the radio dial, he was always a racist and a misogynist.

Is it a moment when it lasts 50 years?

Understood, but most people can’t remember anything else specific he said besides the Rutgers episode.

I still remember Francesca going batshit on his show when Imus was fired.

I remember Howard and robin talking about him being racist on their show 25 years ago.

Yup. I was a fan of Howard from the WNBC days (when my mom told me I couldn’t listen to him) and he loved ripping on Imus. I think the character then known as Boy Gary had said that Imus was a total dick to everyone who worked on his show.

There was also this 2008 controversy involving Pacman Jones.
