I have never been able to find it online but Rickles was on Larry King one night and he starts riffing on Frank, Larry takes a call...."Palm Springs, hello?" and it's Frank, "Hello, Don." Rickles starts losing it, "Don't you screen the calls here? I'm a dead man!!!!"

There must have been something in the air. Yesterday morning there was a replay of a 1976 Tonight Show with Johnny and Sinatra. Rickles makes an 'unscheduled' appearance. Great way to wake up by laughing uncontrollably. The clip posted above

    RIP. I loved him.

Comedic genius. American treasure. A laugh riot who went after everyone. RIP.

Jon Chait of New York magazine posted a story on Twitter today. His dad was a huge Rickles fan. His ambition was to be insulted by Don. This was in Chait's childhood when family was relatively poor, or at least broke enough so his mom couldn't afford a nice birthday present for her husband. So she wrote Rickles asking him to call her husband and insult him.
He did it! And it took about five minutes of insults before Chait's Dad believed it was real.

Interesting that people have different tastes in humor. I never laughed at Don Rickles, Jerry Lewis, the Three Stooges or Richie Incognito.

Jerry Lewis was never, ever funny. Not sure how the Stooges are on that list, though.
