Interviewer: Tell me about a mistake you made and what you learned.

Kid: Here's what happened and here's what I did. It still horrifies and will until the day I die. Learned from it.

Really? This is the shit we are talking about on this thread? ::)

I"m an asshole and I even get it that a thread like this is a place not to bring that dumb shit

And, it appears according to the Poynter story, they handled the backing off properly, while CBS was putting it all on Onward State. And, yes, since it has the CBS name on it, I automatically think of Cronkite and Murrow ...

The online world is so screwed up when it comes to this stuff that you're almost better off NOT writing a mea culpa like that. It's just one more screengrab that will live forever.

That's a good point. If Paterno had passed away in September, obits and all coverage would have been glowing. Now, a totally different story and a tough situation for anyone reporting on it.

Wow, they left comments on. That could get ugly

I saw that and wondered too, but I think they had to. It would have compounded the chicken-shitness of the previous two hours to turn comments off. Take their beating and know there will be another false death report in a couple of months.

The comments seem suspicious. So CBSSports.com sucks all the time? Then why read it every day? It doesn't seem to me that the comments are from regular readers.

I really don't see what the point is of having comments in a situation like this. So people can prove they can be as assholish as cbssports.com was inaccurate?
