WUSA in DC posted an apology on its FB page, said that as an affiliate they count on CBS for reports on news outside of their area. Put full blame on the CBSSports.com report that did not have attribution. Of course, that post has been removed from the FB page.

At what level CAN we start blaming other organizations for our misreporting of this story? I told my roommate. Can I blame CBS or am I at fault because I didn't go to Pennsylvania and poke Paterno with a pin before passing the story along?

The only one doing an admirable job of accepting blame in this is the kid, who also happens to be the only one who has the excuse of not knowing any better.

Exactly. Still trying to shove some of the blame onto the source, the one they didn't bother to cite at first.
