Gronk has steamrolled his share of DBs...

That said, nothing is better than watching your team run the ball 12-straight times on an 80 yard scoring drive.

Bear Bryant went from Namath to Stabler as his QBs at Alabama. Think about that for a moment.

Eh, two non-Hall of Fame caliber QBs. :)

Which leads to ... Stabler > Namath?

Both of those guys sure could throw interceptions.

Bear had eight years of drinking buddies.

There was actually Steve Sloan for one year (1965) in between Namath and Stabler. Stabler played some that year, but Sloan was the starter (he had also filled in in 1963 and 1964 when Namath was injured and/or suspended).

Bryant also had Pat Trammell right before Namath. Trammell probably could have played in the NFL, but chose to go to medical school instead. He died at 28 from testicular cancer. They created the Paul W. Bryant scholarship fund to help Trammell's kids go to college, and now any direct descendent of any former Bryant player can attend Alabama for free.

And in a combined six years on campus, they threw 677 passes, completed 56.6 percent of them, for 4,909 yards, with 42 touchdowns and 38 interceptions. They also ran for 1,401 yards and 24 touchdowns.
I know it was a different era and it obviously didn't negatively affect the team's or their individual success, but ... damn. Two Hall of Fame caliber quarterbacks and you only throw it 12 times a game?

FWIW, neither of those guys were genuinely "Hall of Fame caliber QBs." One is not in, and the other does not deserve to be in.
