    He made a good-faith effort to save a news organization that was dying. He spent six years and invested tens of millions of dollars before deciding to throw in the towel. And his reward is being cast as a villain.

    What's crazy is that Sinclair does have an operation in Eugene - a two-hour drive to be sure. But it wouldn't be hard to make a Medford bureau a couple of one-man-bands - do cut-ins (weather/sports) - , if there is a big Medford story you could put it in the A block. But they're not even doing that. I have to think the advertising department could make it work. But I think the NBC affiliate KOBI is the big dog in the market And its locally-owned.

    From what I saw on the KOBI page, they'll do weather inserts from Eugene and somewhere down the road a reporter/MMJ will be hired to cover southern Oregon. The California audience will get coverage from Redding. But it still sounds like a video version of what happened to the newspaper in Salinas.'
