    Isn't that a Roeper byline?

The type of obit I can get behind. The Onion writers are among our smartest.

Roger Ebert was great at what he did.

The way he faced adversity as cancer ravaged his body -- that was the stuff of a special individual.

He will be missed. May God provide him the best seat in the theater.

F cancer. "At the Movies" was must-see television in the 80's and early 90's, when Siskel and Ebert were at the top of their games. So sad.

    And the balcony is closed.

I loved it during an Oscar preview show before a live audience when Siskel revealed the secret to The Crying Game and Ebert went postal.

It's been said before on here, but the distance between him and the next best reviewer is a Secretariat-like number of lengths. Other than Ebert I rarely ever read a straightforward movie review. For me, it's like the form dies with him.

Perhaps his greatest legacy is he improved the way general audiences thought about movies, making us all better equipped to evaluate movies on our own and not just see them through the eyes of the director or a reviewer.
Think I'll go see a movie today in tribute to Ebert.

I apologize if this has already been posted...

That was a thumb-down review of Mariotti.
So why did Deadspin use a thumb-up photo?
It doesn't seem to fit a piece that rips someone.

Mrs. Bobcat and I celebrated Ebert tonight with a trip to Steak 'n Shake and Citizen Kane. Teared up a little at the end. Felt great.

Funeral was today at Holy Name Cathedral.

I assumed he was an atheist, and found the venue an odd choice.

In looking for confirmation, I came across his very thoughtful take on his belief (or lack thereof) in God:
