RIP Texas Stadium

  1. Yes, Irving is still dry  (I work in that city and still fume that I can't snag a beer quickly after my shift). And I was at that damn Jets-Cowboys game in 1999.

Yeah, I remember watching Ray F'NG LUCAS kill us with 6 minutes to go as the Jets milked the clock and wormed their way down for the winning FG. And if I remember correctly that weekend Dallas got hit by a major winter storm, or somethign along those lines. All I remember is the wind was whipping and it was damn cold in the stadium that day and the day after it!

Joe Ferguson used to say that they changed the Bills' helmet color because that was the only part of (vertically-challenged) Lou Piccone he could see when he rolled right and Piccone was running a route down the far sideline. In reality, though, the crown was supposedly only nine inches high at midfield. And yeah, they did remove it -- or most of it, anyway -- when they laid the current Astroplay surface in 2003.

And the way Piccone tells it, they changed the helmets because Fergy was throwing too many passes to guys on the other AFC East teams, which all had white hats back in the day ...

  4. I'm a lifelong Cowboys fan, and I won't miss Texas Stadium, at all.

It's a dump, smells like urine and the locker rooms/press areas are awful.

Cowboys out of the playoffs? Yes!
Cowboys out of Texas Stadium? Woohoo!
Cowboys coaching staff in trouble? ha!

Getting Cowboys fans out of Houston? Priceless.

There will be football at Texas Stadium this week.

Texas Tech is holding its Cotton Bowl practices there.
