These things take time, and there's obviously a lot of grieving still to do for many, but it sounds like Stanke enjoyed to play golf. Perhaps some kind of scholarship tournament in SF would be in order down the road. There would certainly be no problem filling a tee sheet.

South Fresno could be an option.

San Francisco is booked with the Olympic Club and the Open in two weeks. Harding Park?

Ellen and Chrissy are working out some ideas for a scholarship fund. We'll let everyone know.

(There is a Sheboygan Fall, WI. Don't know if it's near Madison though)

Trust me on this one - the tributes here barely scratch the surface.

Seneca Falls. We can also celebrate women's rights while we're at it.

Did two stints at SportsLine in the mid- to late-'90s ... Stanke arrived between the two. So I got to know him a bit the second time around, but not nearly as well as many others.

But my strongest memories are of his wisdom, his compassion and his calmness. All three were in short supply at an Internet start-up that wanted desperately to compete with the big boys. So Stanke stood out for all the right reasons.

There are precious few people I know that I've never heard anyone say one bad thing about. That list got smaller this week.

    RIP Stanke. You touched many.
