Prince was one of the seminal pop artists ever, as important a songwriter as he was an artist. If he dies, it absolutely gets Whitney Houston-level coverage and a far bit more than Phil Collins.

I've already seen one paper's A1 put her obit as a skybox teaser.

I honesty don't think Phil Collins is in the same class as Whitney as far as a body of work. He's B-list.

John Mellencamp squeezes on that list somewhere, no?

To remind you, this was the post that started it:

Not WOULD be. But WILL be. He was saying that Phil Collins' death is as big of a deal, in 2012, as those of Madonna, Whitney and Michael.

I'm sure people gladly spent their nickle to see them rather than going to the talkies, but I am talking about the last 40-50 years.

    Depends.

If he dies by drunk driving his car into a telephone pole, not as surprising.

Sure, if he dies trying to kill the President. :)

Elton John and Mick Jagger would make the list, but they are more 1970s as would Sir Paul.

That's the right play. Ripping up a Sunday A1? I'm not there.

Why I love this place: Whitney Houston dies, and half the posts are assessing the legacy of... Phil Phucking Collins.

I'm just getting to this now.

    MSNBC's teasers:

    Found at Beverly Hills Hilton
    Best Song?
    911 Call Details
    Sharpton Mourns

WTF do I care about Al Sharpton's thoughts on the subject?
