Ironically, Dolly Parton wrote Whitney's biggest song.

"Underrated" might not have been the best choice of words in this context. When you talk about "legendary" musicians and start making a list, he's not someone who is always immediately thought of. But when you then mentioned "so what about Stevie Wonder?" the immediate response is "oh, well, yeah, of course."

But he was one of the top two or three musical icons of the 1970s and ridiculously influential. He was one of the first "mainstream" musicians to integrate reggae into pop music and also one of the first major artists to fully embrace the "groundbreaking" technology of synths. He was also an important agent for social change - he was one of the people who led the charge for Martin Luther King Day to become a national holiday.

Unfortunately, I think too many people hear "Stevie Wonder" and think about the 80s schlock like "I Just Called To Say I Love You." Artists can put out questionable material as they get older, and for the most part people just dismiss it; it only starts to hamper their legacy when it is questionable AND popular.

This is truly sad. Whitney Houston had the kind of gift everyone wishes for.

In recent years, it seemed that she, sadly, didn't have "The Greatest Love of All."

Another terrific song during which you could not help but shake your head and marvel at that voice.

    Who's Amy Winehouse?
And all the Phil Collins talk and no mention of Miami Vice? What kind of people are you?

Her first album was released in 1985.

Her first-ballot opportunity would have happened in 2011.

If Chuck Berry gets A1, so does Jerry Lee Lewis. Little Richard is a toss-up.

Just curious, why do you think the death of Dana Holgerson would go on A1?

Just looked up his picture. The resemblance to 80s Collins is creepy.

Again I ask, when did she ever record a rock'n'roll song?
