Why isn't there a Phil Collins for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thread?

Not even the number one or two story on the LA Times front page...

I wonder how much of the decisions were the fact that most Sunday front pages are designed and approved on Friday and designers either didn't want to adjust or don't have the authority.

If she had died at the same time on a different day of the week, would a different decision have been made.

    Because Genesis is already in.

I have no problem with placement of stories. Both websites featured her passing and the LA Times did an outstanding job. It was front page, below the fold. An argument could be made for the NY Times not putting the passing of a local talent above the fold, but it's no big deal.

Just popped it up. It's about the right play.

I choose to believe that's because of the Peter Gabriel era.

"My first album? No Jacket required by Phil Collins. I'd get in people's faces about it. 'He's dark. he's pretty fucking dark. He's totally punk rock...he's got on sneakers with a suit! He's crazy!'" - Patton Oswalt

TBH, I think it was played right. If anything, it might have been a little bit overplayed.

If her death had come completely out of nowhere (no drugs, etc.), then I'd see the possibility of playing it bigger. But considering how she threw her life away, I'd say it wasn't lede-worthy.

    Neil Diamond.

    Herb Albert.

    Miles Davis.

    Brenda Lee.

    Chet Atkins.

    Isaac Hayes.

    Billie Holiday.

    Etta James, for heaven's sake.

With all due respect, I think you mis-estimated the membership.

I'm going to keep drilling this into people's heads until they get it: Billy Joel belongs on that list. End of story.
