I was drafting off your list refuting the original premise of Whitney's lack of Rock n Roll Hall of Fame credentials.

Personally, I don't have much of a problem with anyone the Hall wants to induct - Carpenters included. But if Abba is in - along with some of the others you listed - then surely Whitney Houston should be up for consideration.

Yes, I understand that. Guess it's just that the RnR HOF takes in a lot of genres some might not think it would -- blues, jazz, country, pop.

So when does Bobbi Kristina's reality show debut?

They were poor fielders and were stuck in the DH role for most of their careers.

In all seriousness though, yeah, what a shock, and RIP.

  6. Apparently a raging hot mess in the days leading up to her death ...

I wasn't expecting it, but wasn't surprised. And I'm of the age where she would have impacted me musically. To me, she was an American Idol winner before American Idol. Great voice, but never recorded a song I'd consider decent. Lots of hokey junk.

Photo and story below the fold A1 of the Times. Might've been above the fold if she hadn't died Saturday night. Sunday Times is hard to remake on the fly. Just read all this thread, and it amazes me nobody mentioned her National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV. I remember being next to Tony Grossi in the press box and him saying "I don't know about you, Mike, but I want to go down and enlist."

Not a bad take on it. The only thing that would throw it off would be that she was music "royalty" as Cissy's daughter.

I crushed hard on Whitney during my high school years. Hard.

Exquisite beauty. A voice that was undeniable and set the standard for a genre.

Her entire personality seemed to change following her marriage to Mr. Brown, but that doesn't change the memories I have of her, or the elegance of what was once the purest voice I've heard.

    R.I.P.
