Whitney earned her bones on sheer voice and talent. Madonna did it by being erotic and controversial while mixing in her mediocre talent. Does anyone give two shits about Madonna if she's not ramping up (crossthread) the critcism of her for "Pappa don't preach," "Like a Prayer" the Sex book and hooking up with Dennis Rodman? Madonna worked her ass off to stay in the headlines.

Okay, so your biased. As someone who owns probably 15 CDs from Pearl Jam, Chains, Soundgarden et al, allow me to say, if ever there was a genre of music that deserved the "ohh-ver-rayy-ted" chant, it's grunge.

I cant wait to see the financial paperwork on the Whitney estate, Bobbi Kristina could have to dig her mama out of a $300 million hole like Jacko's family did, I doubt crackhead mama left her with any assets to work with if at all

Really? Katy Perry at least writes her own stuff. Seems hard to compare the songs and conclude Perry is a "fake" compared to Whitney when Perry wrote them and Whitney didn't.

Whitney Houston had a hell of a voice. That doesn't translate into being some kind of unimpeachable "artist."

Fake as in voice. Fake as in studio engineered.

I know 30 girls, personally, who sound better than Tits McGee.

Considering there are many, many reports circulating about the state of Houston's finances, I seriously doubt Bobbi Kristina will be inheriting a huge windfall.

Also, I think I remember reading something a long time ago about Houston not receiving songwriting credits for a great deal of her work, which seriously hurt her overall earning potential with royalties, etc...I could be wrong, though...

Edit: I see you all just covered most of this...

Also, you're right, I'd MUCH rather be credited with writing awesome art like "Firework" than by singing my fucking ass off instead of having producers imagine it and make it so.

Hey, I'm not going to just sit here and let someone disparage Katy Perry's tits!

follow the money honey.... Whitney Houston reportedly had terrible financial problems before her death Saturday in Los Angeles

The 48-year-old singer – who had overcome crack cocaine addiction – was allegedly “flat broke” before she died and spent all of her fortune, including a reported $100 million record deal.

Her cause of death is still unknown and an autopsy will be conducted soon. Possibly, Houston’s death was linked to stress from her bankruptcy and a drug overdose.

Houston was being financially supported by her record label Arista, which has given her an advance payment on her next album, according to reports.

“Whitney’s fortune is gone. Music industry heavy hitters are supporting her and her label is fronting her cash against her next album, but no one knows when that will be released,” a source told Radaronline.com before her death during the end of January.

“She might be homeless if not for people saving her. She is broke.”

Houston – whose ex-husband was Bobby Brown – was believed to be in such a dire financial position she has even had to resort to contacting friends for small loans.

The source added: “She called someone to ask for $100. It is so sad. She should have Mariah Carey money, and she’s flat broke.” http://truthquake.com/2012/02/12/whitney-houston-flat-broke-death-stressed-spending-100-million/

I always thought Perry's imagery involving popsicles was revolutionary.
